What should I do if I think there's a problem with my
unit?
Your unit has been tested before
shipment to ensure proper operation, however if you
believe that there's a problem with the unit, contact
the dealer you originally purchased the unit from for
instructions on returning your unit. The units
are warranted for a period of two (2) years from date
of purchase against defects in workmanship and material
only. Items which are normally expendable such
as a rubber part, foam inserts, or items which are damaged
by liquids or misuse (such as dropping the unit), are
not included in this warranty.

What is the speed range, in RPM's, for the Vortex-Genie® 1 mixer?
The speed for the Vortex-Genie 1 mixer is fixed at approximately 3200 RPM for 60Hz models and 2700 RPM for 50 Hz models.
3. Can I purchase the 3-inch platform without a cover for the Vortex-Genie® 1 mixer?
Yes. The 3-inch platform and the rubber cover are available as separate items. To ensure maximum mixing efficiency, the rubber cover should always be used with the 3-inch platform. Please refer to the list of accessories for the Vortex Genie 1 mixer for more information.
4. Is the voltage on my unit changeable?
Yes. You may change the voltage on your unit by using a transformer, which you can purchase at an electric supply store. Please remember, however, that the transformer must be able to handle the amperage of the unit - refer to the specifications portion of your operations manual included with the unit. The mixing will not be as vigorous and the service life of the mixer will be shortened. It is always best to use a model designed for your specific voltage.
5. Can the Vortex-Genie®
1 mixer be used at low temperatures?
Yes. The Vortex-Genie 1 mixer and accessories can be operated in a cold room at a temperature no lower than 4°C (40°F). Also, it should be noted that as with most electrical devices the unit should not be exposed to excess moisture or humidity (condensation would be an example of excess moisture).
6.
The attachments on my Vortex-Genie® 1 are coming loose.
What is causing this?
The most likely cause of loose attachments is improper installation. Verify that the attachment is mounted properly by referring to the operating instructions included with the mixer or attachments. Also, be certain that the tubes and flasks are properly balanced on the attachments prior to operating the mixer. This will also avoid excessive wear and tear due to uneven balancing.
7.
What is the difference between the Vortex-Genie® 2 and
the Vortex-Genie® 1?
The Vortex-Genie 1 is modeled after the original Vortex-Genie Jr. mixer. It features a fixed speed and a large mixing orbit for very aggressive mixing of samples. The Vortex-Genie 2 features variable speed control, a smaller mixing orbit, and several accessories.
8. What accessories
are available for the Vortex-Genie® 1?
The pop-off cup and 3-inch platform are the only accessories that should be used on the Vortex-Genie 1 mixer.
9. Does the Vortex-Genie®
1 mix more vigorously than the Vortex-Genie® 2 or Vortex-Genie®
2T?
Yes. The Vortex-Genie 1 has a
mixing orbit of 6mm, which allows for more vigorous
mixing than the Vortex-Genie 2 or Vortex-Genie 2T. However,
because of this larger mixing orbit, most accessories
for the Vortex-Genie 2 and Vortex-Genie 2T should not
be used on the Vortex-Genie 1.
