The Vortex-Genie Family is based upon, and originates from, the original Scientific Industries Vortex Jr. Mixer, manufactured prior to 1962. This product line has evolved and expanded over the years, but has maintained the reputation as a “workhorse” and a “must have” in almost any type of laboratory.
Our reputation for high quality, reliability, and affordability is evident from our sales volume—to date, more than 1,000,000 units have been purchased! Moreover, Scientific Industries’ products are built to last, with many of those units still in use today! Our team of engineers is committed to innovating and expanding the Genie family product line, providing our customers with the finest in mixing equipment.
In 2006 Scientific Industries diversified by acquiring Altamira Instruments, a highly reputable manufacturer of custom catalyst characterization instrumentation and bench-scale micro-reactor systems for industrial and research use all over the world including China, Brazil, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia and European nations.
In 2014, Scientific expanded its benchtop laboratory equipment business with the acquisition of the Torbal product line, a highly reputable brand with a similar long history of quality and reliability, thus adding laboratory scales and pharmacy pill counters product line.
In 2016, Scientific Bioprocessing Inc. was relaunched, a subsidary of Scientific Industries specializing in non-invasive pH and DO monitoring in cell cultivation through its patch sensor based technology acquired by Scientific in 2011.

Scientific Industries's set out to expand its product line with products based on the same fundamentals that made the Vortex-Genie family line succesful.. This would lead to catalyst research instruments, pharmacy scales, non-invasive pH & DO monitoring, among other innovative products.
In 2006 Scientific Industries acquired Altamira Instruments, Inc., a privately held global producer and distributor of custom quality catalyst research instruments. AMI instruments have been installed at more than 300 locations around the world. Among these installations are leading national laboratories, influential academic catalyst research groups and major chemical research centers. Altamira Instruments is a company started by and is still staffed by catalysis people.
In 2014, we have extended our benchtop laboratory equipment product line by acquiring Torbal Scales.

Scientific Bioprocessing Inc
In 2016 Scientific Industries re-launched Scientific Bioprocessing, non-invasive pH and DO monitoring. The CellPhase BioCoaster System allows the user to non-invasively monitor dissolved oxygen and/or pH in any liquid biological sample in "real time." Ideal for efficient testing in Pharmaceutical, BioProduction, Food Processing, Water Treatment and many more applications.
